Winter in Florida
The last time it’s snowed in the Florida panhandle was 1989 and I was 8 years old. Now 43, with an 11 year old son and twin 5 year old girls who had never seen snow in person until this week. Not only did it snow, we had record breaking levels of snowfall. The nearby city of Milton, FL got 10-inches of snow! The “official” number that I believe was associated with Panama City was 3-inches. We had that by around 8pm in our back yard and it was still falling. Schools closed Tuesday (1/21) and remained closed through Thursday (1/23) as cold temperatures allowed the snow to stick around for a few days and what did melt would freeze again overnight leaving many roads icy the following day. It was great to see the smiles on the kids faces as they saw the snow begin to fall and were then able to play in it for 3 days! Core memories were surely made!
On January 21st, snowfall began around 3:30pm. The photo below was taken around 6:00pm.

After an epic snowfall, the photo below was taken on January 22nd around 8:45am.

With 3 snow days, the kids couldn’t get enough of it and continued to find snow lingering around in all the areas of the yard that were shaded for most of the day.
