Picture Upload Issue
It wasn’t too long after I kicked off this blog that I tried to use the WordPress app to create new posts but ran into issues when trying to upload pictures. My work around has been to occasionally draft posts on my phone only to later to edit pictures on my PC, add them to the post and publish it. Unfortunately, that process is not user friendly and has kept me from posting even less than I normally would.
Late last week I finally tried again and ran into the same issue, which has persisted – for a LONG time now. I knew it couldn’t still be an issue with the app else it would have reported and resolved by now. So I tried to dig into it and found an error message was shown here…

I Googled the 413 error which reports as “request entity too large” and I found that the default max dimension for WordPress is set as 2560px and there’s a file size limit as well. Both can be modified but I had not done so and my iPhone pictures are 4032×3024 and ~4.5Mb which grossly exceeded the limits mentioned above. Inevitably I’ve now downloaded the Photoshop Express app which allows me to easily resize images.
Now that I’ve figured out the issue and am able to create and publish mobile posts, I hope I’ll follow through and post more often as well! Only time will tell 🙂
